Paper Bird
Arts & crafts for kids

by Heidi Ott

Kids love to make and play with these birds. Help them to make a whole flock!

You will need:
bird craft
  • Blue construction paper
  • Wooden skewer
  • 1 sheet of white paper
  • Purple poster paint
  • White glue

  • Instructions:

Click here to print the bird pattern.

Cut two birds out of blue construction paper (you can, of course, use any color of construction paper). Fray the tail of each bird by making several 1 inch cuts in it. Glue the birds together with the skewer in the middle. Referring to the pattern, cut a slit in the bird for the wings.

Cut 5-1/2 inch square from the white paper. Fan fold using 3/8 inch folds. Thread the folded white paper through the slit in the bird. Center it and open the fan on both sides of the bird. Glue the top of each fan together.

Place a small amount of purple poster paint on a paper plate. Dab the top of the fan (wings) into the paint so it covers just the very edge of the fan. Let dry.

Using a pen, make eyes on your new bird!the end
