Dragon Tales

Fun food ideas

by Nancy Price

Do your kids love Cassie, Ord, Zak & Wheezie and the whole Dragon Tales gang? Here are some fun recipes you can make with your children to pretend you're in Dragon Land...

Dragonberry Cupcakes
1/2 cup butter
2 eggs
2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1-1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup milk
2 teaspoons baking powder
1-1/2 cups blueberries (aka "Dragonberries")

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Grease or use non-stick spray in muffin pan or on 12 regular muffin cups, or use foil baking cups.

Cream butter and sugar with a mixer on slow speed until creamy. Add eggs one at a time and mix until blended. Sift dry ingredients and add that mixture, alternating with milk.

Mash 1/2 cup of the blueberries and stir them in by hand. Add the remainder of the blueberries, whole, folding them gently into the mixture. Fill muffin cups evenly. (Sprinkle muffins with sugar if desired.) Bake at 375 degrees F for about 25-30 minutes. Let muffins cool in the pan before removing.

Come along to Dragon Land - here's Zak & Wheezie!

Cassie's rainbow salad
1/2 cup sliced strawberries
1 banana, sliced
1 kiwi fruit, sliced
1 apple, chopped into bite-sized pieces
1 orange, peeled and segmented, then sliced into bite-sized pieces
1/2 cup blueberries

Except for the banana, slice or chop fruits as directed. Combine in a large bowl and toss gently. Refrigerate for at least 1/2 hour to let juices combine. When you're ready to serve, slice the banana and add to the salad, tossing gently.

Quetzal's Tuna and Cheese sandwiches
1 can tuna
1 tablespoon mayonnaise
1 teaspoon pickle relish
Pepper to taste (not a lot)
2 slices American cheese (or any cheese you like)
4 slices of bread
2 leaves of lettuce

Combine the tuna, mayonnaise, relish and pepper in a bowl. Divide in half and use a spoon to put the tuna mixture on the bread. Put one slice of cheese on each sandwich, followed by the lettuce. Cut each sandwich diagonally into quarters.the end
