3 ways to help kids pay attention
Who couldn't use a little help with focusing these days? Kids, just like the rest of us, can be easily distracted by the countless things going on in our minds and in our world. In the April issue of Better Homes and Gardens, some advice on how to help kids pay better attention in school has been offered. Better.TV has provided the following 3 strategies to help your kids stay at the head of the class:
- Include more whole grain and fiber into your kids' diets. Both will help slow their digestion and give them a feeling of being full. That way, kids can focus on schoolwork and not on grumbling tummies.
- Feed them breakfast. Everyone knows by now that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and kids definitely need that energy boost to jump start their day. In fact, a recent study found that a healthy breakfast helps improve a child's attentiveness by nearly 20%.
- Make sleep a priority. Sometimes it's easier said than done, but kids should get at least 8 hours of sleep each night. They simply can't do their best at school if they're tired. Bedtime routines-including established bedtimes-can help get kids into bed at night and get them rebooted for the next day.
